Mike’s Picks!

Avengers #12: Hickman continues to weave disparate parts of the marvel universe together in this book. I love the big ideas on display here!

Nowhere Men #5: Speaking of big ideas, this book has them in spades and is one of the best of the year so far!

Young Avengers #5: So basically my picks this week are a master class in making tremendous, fun, and smart comics (like this one!) is what I’m getting at.

Plus: Scott Pilgrim Color Hardcover Volume 3!

Nate’s Picks!

Star Wars Legacy #3: On the run from a deranged Imperial Knight, Ania Solo runs into another Knight. Does he want to help her or help destroy her?

TMNT Villain Microseries #2 Baxter Stockman: Baxter is working on Krang’s terror machine, does he have a way out for himself and the planet Earth?

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS1: The hardcover collection of John Byrne’s STAR TREK contributions, the INJUSTICE Wonder Woman/Grundy action figure combo, and a DOCTOR WHO Tardis safe!

EVERETT

Todd’s Picks!

Bounce #1: Joe Kelly writes it, Image publishes it, and I read it. Period.

Half Past Danger #1:WWII and Dinosaurs. Two great tastes that go great together.

Powers Bureau I don’t care about delays. New POWERS is good POWERS.

Superior Spider-Man #10: GREEN GOBLIN RUNS AMOK! (Amok amok amok amok…)

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS2: The third SCOTT PIGRIM color hardcover edition, WESLEY CRUSHERS t-shirts, and the POP! HALO 4 Spartan figure!

REDMOND

Joe’s Picks!

Avengers #12: I can’t get enough of this book, it’s rare to find a book that is so good issue to issue and yet still builds to universe changing story.

Batman Lil Gotham #2: This book is filling the whole in my heart that Tiny Titans left, if you’d like something fun and interesting to read to the kids before bed, or just want a more lighthearted look at the the world of Batman this book is for you.

Scott Pilgrim Color HC 3: My love of all things Scott Pilgrim is fanatical and well documented, these color editions have been well done and are beautiful.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS3: Get the back in print APHRODITE IX trade paperback, the second volume of PETER PANZERFAUST, and check out the ArtFX+ AQUAMAN statue!

U-DISTRICT

Sean’s Picks!

Bounce #1: What lies behind the cool black shades of Joe Casey? Probably biting superhero commentary wrapped up and packaged as Spiderman’s anti-hero cousin, Bounce!

Nowhere Men #5: Normally when a comic is closing in on it’s sixth issue and doesn’t have a established narrative this would be considered a problem. Not in the case of Nowhere Men! Is it a sci-fi comic or superhero comic? All I know is this is the most exciting comic on the shelves right now!

Carl’s Picks!

Dia de los Muertos #3: Call me old fashioned, but I like when comics are big, beautiful, and printed on matte paper-stock. I’m going to miss Dia de los Muertos.

Occupy Comics #1: Alan Moore leads a who’s-who of the discontent. Personal fave Ron Wimberly makes a rare appearance too. Count me in.

Solid State Tank Girl #1: How does an institution this old still manage to seem so young and fresh?

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS4: More ARCHIE than you thought you needed in the 1000-page digest, hardcover and softcover versions of Wally Wood’s EERIE TALES OF CRIME & HORROR, and a new assortment of BATMAN buttons!

G.I. Joe Special Missions #3: The G.I. Joe books continue their strong and excellent run! Well worth reading!

Helheim #3: Written by Cullen Bunn with phenomenal art by Joelle Jones this tale of a Viking vengeance from beyond the grave is great!

Regular Show #1: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS1: ADVENTURE TIME Jake handle mugs are in, the new ArtFX+ AQUAMAN statue swims onto the shelves, and you NEED the new SUPERMAN fleece cozy in your life!

EVERETT

Todd’s Picks!

Aquaman TP Vol 1 The Trench and Aquaman HC Vol 2 The Others: If you haven’t been reading the best Arthur Curry stories in a very, VERY long time, now is your chance to rectify that. Geoff Johns is magic.

Battlestar Galactica #1: This IS your father’s BSG. Original recipe Adama, Apollo, and Starbuck are back in this new ongoing series from Dynamite!

Nightwing #20: As Dick sets up a new life in the Windy City, trouble is always in the loop.

Marjorie’s Picks!

Fatale #14: The Flashback issue when Jo meets Mr. Bishop for the first time!!!

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #2: If you liked the micro-series from the 80′s, you will enjoy this version as well.

My Little Pony Friendship is Magic #7: Quickly pick up your copy as they go fast!!! Also, check out our MLP T-shirts!

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS2: Speaking of MY LITTLE PONY the first trade paperback is out this week, the new BARNEY STINSON talking wobbler is lengen…wait for it…DARY, and snuggle up in the new WONDER WOMAN fleece cozy!

REDMOND

Joe’s Picks!

Avengers Enemy Within #1: The first big crossover between Avengers Assemble and Captain Marvel, both critically acclaimed books that don’t reach the audience they deserve.

Dream Thief #1: Can you imagine waking up every morning to find that you committed crimes during the night and now you were left to dispose of the evidence? The cops really aren’t going to believe “ghosts made me do it.”

Regular Show #1: Another Number 1! Cartoon Network continues bringing their hilarious series to comics. First it was Adventure Time, then Bravest Warriors, and with this the trifecta is complete and the prophecies are fulfilled.

Jared’s Picks!

Battlestar Galactica #1: Alternate reality in classic continuity. I’m hoping for campy charm.

Marceline and the Scream Queens TP: Meredith Gran has created the most fun vampire-based comic I’ve ever read. This miniseries is a blast, and the art is amazing.

The Massive TP: Not new this week, but this science fiction piece deserves more attention. If you like apocalypse stories, bottle episodes, or exploring the nature of the human beast, pick up a copy.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS3: The new assortment of SOUTH PARK minis are here, get the Peggy Carter in your life some CAPTAIN AMERICA shield stud earrings, and for game night pick up the new ZOMBIE INFLATABLE CATCH GAME!

U-DISTRICT

Sean’s Picks!

Conan the Barbarian #16: “Hao! Dai ye! We won again! This is good, but what is best in life? The open steppe, fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair. Wrong! Conan! What is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women. That is good! That is good.” And if that doesn’t sum up the worthiness of Brian Wood’s Conan then I don’t know what does.

Legend of Luther Strode #5: Only the herculean behemoth Luther Strode can overcome the malevolent mechanization of a cabal of dirty cops, mercs and even the one they call JACK! Fun ultra-violence with no amount of pretension everything the 90lb weakling needs.

Carl’s Picks!

The Dream Merchant #1: There’s a special place in heaven for pretty comics with ‘number one’ on their covers. Let’s take a chance, shall we?

Fatale #14: Eisner nominated, so you know it’s legit.

From Hell Companion SC: Not many comics are dense enough to merit a separate companion edition, but From Hell is certainly a good candidate. Also: There will be Eddie Campbell.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS4: The new RISK LEGACY game is here, get the FUTURAMA plushes while they last, and check out the new BATMAN Black & White Mike Allred statue!

Mike’s Picks!

Demon Knights #20: I really enjoyed the 1st arc of the new creative team, excited to see what’s next!

Thor God of Thunder #8: The story arc is called “GODBOMB” and it is as awesome as it sounds! (note: VERY AWESOME!)

Uncanny X-Force #4: Fantomex! Cluster! Dark Fantomex! (I’m rather fond of Fantomex if you can’t tell)

Walt Disney Donald Duck HC Vol. 3 Castles: Another one of these great Carl Barks hardcovers is dropping! Check it out!

PLUS: A bunch of Pop Vinyl Figures! Adventure Time! Game of Thrones! Iron Man 3!

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS1: The trade paperback edition of the hit mini-series SPIDER-MEN, the new GREEN LANTERN Simon Baz action figure, and a 12-inch STAR WARS Death Star Droid!

EVERETT

Todd’s Picks!

Fearless Defenders #4: Best covers on the shelf right now, and the stories are great, too!

Grimm #1: Like the hit TV show? Buy the comic!

Thunderbolts TP Vol 1 No Quarter: If you missed getting any of this consistent sell-out series, jump on NOW. (See what I did there?)

Walking Dead #110: Michonne is pissed. That’s never a good thing.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS2: A new SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN poster, a BRAVE Merida bust, and POP! GAME OF THRONES Arya Stark and Jon Snow figures!

REDMOND

Jared’s Picks!

Batman and Red Hood #20: Watching the aftermath of Batman Inc. play out, I’m wondering where this book will end up. Onward!

Star Trek #20: The new-universe origins and history of two of my favorite characters, Sulu and Checkhov.

Star Wars #5: This book is the perfect follow-on to A New Hope, over 30 years late. Luke has to save Leia from the Empire this time around.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS3: The 3rd volume of the 9th Season of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, Killer Croc and Azrael DC CHESS pieces, and DOCTOR WHO Cyberman talking plushes!

U-DISTRICT

Sean’s Picks!

Batman #20: Batman has always had the most recognizable cadre of sinister super-villains. But with every host of villainy some baddies just never get their day in the sun. Over looked and under appreciated Clayface is finally getting the treatment he deserves.

Chin Music #1: Steve Niles puts his horror spin on prohibition-era gangsters, while Tony Harris churns out page after page of exquisite art. A must read for anyone who’s enjoyed The Damned or Fatale.

Carl’s Picks!

I Love Trouble #5: I’m a sucker for anything printed on matte paper stock, and I’m really digging I Love Trouble’s youthful artistic sensibility.

Mylo Xyloto #4: If you told me that the company responsible for Simpsons comics had put together a comic book based on a concept album by Coldplay, I would tell you to shut your lying mouth. And if you told me that the comic had lasted four issues and wasn’t half bad, I’d try to have you indicted for perjury. This title remains a curious oddity: The ridiculous source material is strangely appropriate for an ongoing comic book, and the art is straight out of Doug Tennapel b-sides. Depending on your tastes, this may be an adaptation that exceeds the source material’s quality.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS4: The new MICHAEL GOLDEN Artist’s Portfolio, Volume 3 of Bendis’ ULTIMATE COMICS SPIDER-MAN, and the full line of POP! IRON MAN 3 figures!

The new PREVIEWS catalog is out this week. Pick it up and let us know what you want!

LYNNWOOD

Mike’s Picks!

East of West #2: Another Hickman book, another hit. The only thing predictable is the quality, of which there is plenty!

FF #6: Fraction and the Allred’s are going all out on this book and it really shows. One of the most enjoyable comics out there!

Helheim #2: VIKING FRANKENSTEIN! That. Right there. Sells itself really.

Mighty Skullkickers #1: Amazing Adjective Adventures Advance Apace! Fantastic Fantasy Fun Found Forthwith! (What? Alliteration is almost as fun as a new adjective every month.)

Young Avengers #4: A team of fan favorite characters masterfully guided by the efforts of Gillen and McKelvie! Check it out!

Nate’s Picks!

Guardians of the Galaxy #2: BADOON!!!! They are attacking Earth and the Guardians are across the galaxy dealing with their own problems.

Manhattan Projects #11: The Science Lords have gained total control of the earth, what is in store for humanity now.

Star Wars Legacy #2: Prisoner of the Floating World continues. Ania Solo finds a lightsaber, now she is on the run from the local police and an Imperial Knight.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS1: Want to learn a new language? Perhaps the <strong<STAR TREK HC on Klingon is for you! Get all of the IRON MAN Heroclix you want, and check out the new SUPERMAN figurine and pendant set!

EVERETT

Todd’s Picks!

Answer #4: Will this conclusion live up to the series title, or leave us with more questions?

Helheim #2: This is like Conan mixed with Frankenstein. Potent.

Jennifer’s Blood #26: Jenn’s got plans, and they don’t involve being in prison much longer.

Jupiter’s Legacy #1: This long awaited series from Mark Millar is finally here! Being the offspring of a hero isn’t easy. Sometimes it’s toxic. I can’t wait to get a look at this book.

Marjories’s Picks!

My Little Pony Friendship is Magic #6 & My Little Pony Micro Series #3: Both are coming out this week!! Come get yours and even some alternate covers while supplies last! (Also, Adventure Time lovers, we still have some #14 and #15 left and a few of #3 AND #4 from the micro series Fionna & Cake!)

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS2: Finally, the STAR WARS kid’s book “Vader’s Little Princess” hits the shelves, the ADVENTURE TIME Memory game is great family fun, and get the new Series 8 PREDATORS action figures!

REDMOND

Joe’s Picks!

Avengers #10: I was skeptcal when the “New Universal” characters started appearing but this series has remained brilliant and driven. Hickman is taking us for a ride here and I’m excited to see where it goes next.

Helheim #2: Frankenstein meets vikings, in all the best ways. The dead rise and axes and swords put them right back down!

Justice League Dark #19: The Hunter saga is over and the dark Justice League have returned to their main universe, but who will remain on the team and what magcial danger awaits them? I’m excited to find out.

Jared’s Picks!

Jupiter’s Legacy #1: Mark Millar and Frank Quietly telling a story about a second generation of superheroes.

Mind MGMT #10: Meru and Lyme need to find The Futurist, to find Mind Management’s training center. But how to find him?

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS3: Get the 4th trade volume of the hit MORNING GLORIES series, check out the new DRAGONBALL Z plush assortments, and the MUNSTERS “Drag-U-La” die-cast car!

U-DISTRICT

Sean’s Picks!

East of West #2: Wow that first issue did not disappoint! Hickman’s alternate American history breeds a bizarre bleak future where the four horsemen of the apocalypse have risen! So much of this comic harkens back to the independent 80′s with terrific melding of sci-fi and fantasy elements.

Jupiter’s Legacy #1: Ever since Millar became a less a creative and more a commodity its been hard to pick up any one of his titles. Jupiter’s Legacy however has the potential of being the exception. Maybe it’s the quizzically lumpy Quitely art or the Morrisonesque title? Who knows! The only way to find out is to read it this Wednesday. Another breakout Image independent!

Carl’s Picks!

Amalas Blade #1: I think I saw this one in DHP a while back, and I feel like taking a chance with the #1.

Mark Ryden Gay 90’s HC: Haters are going to hate. Mark Ryden’s going to paint. Dicaprio’s going to buy the paintings, and I’m going to look at this coffee table book of the paintings.

Meathaus #8 Headgames: The work in this book is likely to seem a little crude by their current standards, but it’s important to remember that comic book big names like Brandon Graham, James Jean, Becky Cloonan, and Dash Shaw were all just art students in the Big Apple throwing together jams and zines once upon a time. Think of this as the comic equivalent of seeing Hollywood’s yearbook photos.

Uncanny X-Men #5: Bachalo is one of my favorite pencillers working for Marvel these day – both he and Immonen agree with my sensibility of what amounts to good drawing in a superhero book: The figures are decent, the faces are expressive thanks to some good, old-fashion cartooning, and the page layouts are exciting and (usually) easy to read. Bachalo is a pretty decent colorist too, and I like how his color schemes keep my eyes from getting bored during the slower moments.

Sabrina’s Picks!

Injustice: Gods Among Us #4: OK, I admit it. I played the game. I know, I feel shame for me too. And I even have more shame because I actually like this series! I mean, Superman is being a jerk and it’s kinda entertaining to watch.

Knights of Sidonia GN Vol #2: Tsutomu Nihei (HALO: The Graphic Novel) brings his amazing style to the this highly anticipated series. A space colony, giants, giant robots, incredible fight scenes and a few sprinkles of humor are what you’ll find in this solid title from Vertical. Don’t miss you chance to get in on this series!

My Little Pony Micro Series # 3: Hi, my name is Sabrina. I’m an adult woman and I like multi-colored little ponies. And while I like ponies (and Twilight is the best), I have to say that Rarity is up there. Missing this would be “the! Worst! Possible! Thing!”

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS4: The new JOE HILL HC Treasury edition is out this week, X-MEN welcomes “Longshot” back into print, and don’t miss out on the POP WALKING DEAD Michonne & Pet Zombies sets!

REDMOND

Joe’s Picks!

Captain America #6: Do you love Saga? Of course you do, that was rhetorical. You should be reading Captain America as well, it’s the same good weird.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS3: The first hardcover collection of Hickman’s AVENGERS run is out!
U-DISTRICT

Sean’s Picks!

Carl’s Picks!

Batman Year One Hundred (New Printing): Not exactly new, but it’s always good to see this one in print. If you’re looking for a Batman story like no other, check out Year 100. Lynda Barry wanted to put an excerpt in America’s Best Comics when she was editor, and you’ll see why in the first five pages.

Eightball Ghost World TP: Ghost World is one of those books that built Seattle-institution Fantagraphics back in the 1990′s, and it’s only been available in an oversized, deluxe edition for the longest time. I like deluxe editions, but an affordable trade of this book is a great entry-point into the world of independent comics for the uninitiated.

Manhattan Projects TP Vol 2: This one’s already on its second trade? Wow. Time to catch up.

TMNT Villain Microseries #1 Krang: Admit it: you’ve always wanted to know more about Krang. Stop it! Stop arguing with me! Yes, you have. I’ve seen how you stare right through the seven-foot, bald robot-in-shoulder-pads straight down to the beady-eyed pink mass in the mid-drift. I can see the questions hiding behind all your hungry looks, and I can tell you the answers are waiting in this book. Buy it and find bliss.

Saga #12: Has to be my favorite title so far!

Star Wars #4: Wood manages to provide us with his version of the beloved characters while maintaining what we loved most about them.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS2: We got STAR TREK Klingon disruptors, ADVENTURE TIME Monopoly, and STAR WARS wallets coming in this week!

REDMOND

Joe’s Picks!

Batman and Red Robin #19: Bruce and Tim! The best Batman with the best Robin. It only lasts one issue, but that’s an issue worth reading.

Hawkeye #9: Hawkeye’s life gets more complicated as he sorts out relationship with all the women in his life. Holy crap did Marvel trick me into reading a soap opera?

Alien Illustrated Story Facsimile ED TP: The classic Heavy Metal adaptation of the much beloved and feared Alien film. Reprinted with the original 1979 Heavy Metal tentacled cover. A must own for any Alien fan.

Valerian GN Vol 01 City of Shifting Waters: The classic European graphic novel that inspired the movie Fifth Element. Pierre Christin’s detailed and comical illustrations breath life into the time-traveling futuristic romp. Enjoy the first chapter in the renowned Sci-Fi trilogy.

Carl’s Picks!

Hi Fructose Magazine #27: Hey! Seattle local Stacey Rozich is in this issue. Cool!

Saga #12: Good books from Image have become so commonplace that I’m starting to take them for granted. It seems like there’s a new Saga, or Prophet, or now this East of West thing most every week. Anyway, this week’s miracle-to-be-taken-for-granted is Saga #12. Didn’t we all get a chuckle from last month’s first page? Yes we did.

Sex #2: I picked up Sex #1 last month because, well, y’know: The Title. Imagine my surprise then when this crassly-titled pamphlet turned out to have great art and sharp writing. I think I need more Sex this month.

Walking Dead #109: Oh, Neegan! What awful thing will you do this time? I haven’t seen you do something despicable in like, two issues now, and I’m starting to get impatient.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS4: The new issue of DOCTOR WHO magazine is bigger on the inside, the DC Unlimited 6-inch BATMAN action figure is just the right size, and the 3rd printing of BATMAN INCORPORATED #8 is back in stock!

Steam Wars #1: Like STAR WARS? Into Steampunk? Mash ‘em up!

Superman Secret Identity TP: Hands down, one of THE BEST Superman stories I have ever read, this modern classic written by Kurt Busiek is finally back in print. Get it now!

Claire’s Picks!

All New X-Men #10, Earth 2 #11, and Red She-Hulk #64. I don’t even need to tell you why. Just read them!

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS2: PUNK ROCK JESUS rises again in trade paperback, the new travel edition of CATAN is out, and we’ve got STAR WARS die-cast vehicles galore!

REDMOND

Jared’s Picks!

Abe Sapien Dark and Terrible #1: With Hellboy returning, and the Hell on Earth cycle in full swing, releasing an ongoing Abe title is only adding to the horror of this world gone awry.

Popeye #12: This book reminds me of watching Saturday morning cartoons with my dad. It’s fun, plain and simple.

Thanos Rising #1: A new look at big, blue, and bad. Following onto the Avengers film, and hopefully leading toward the next one, I’m looking forward to a new take on Thanos.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS3: DOCTOR WHO Series 1 mini-figs are back in stock, as is the wonderful children’s book DARTH VADER AND SON! Also check out the new DOCTOR WHO QLA Anti-Time device!

U-DISTRICT

Sean’s Picks!

Battle Angel Alita Last Order Omnibus Vol. 1: It’s about time that these earlier volumes became available again. Get ‘em while they’re still in print!

Godzilla Half Century War #5: Soooo excited. Hopefully the delay is well worth it. The longer the wait the sweeter the Stokoe.

Punk Rock Jesus TP: One of the most important Vertigo comics of 2012. A bold graphic attempt at addressing the meaning and significance of religion in a crumbing near future America. Fans of Otomo’s Akira and Pope’s Heavy Liquid will enjoy this original graphic novel.

Carl’s Picks!

Glory #34: The dynastic space-opera continues with crack writing and terrific art. Who’d have thought you could get such a good reboot out of Glory?

Godzilla Half Century War #5: James Stokoe finishes his fantastic Godzilla run this week. This has been one of those perfect marriages between a license property and the cartoonist ideally suited to draw it.

Locke & Key Omega #4: I read once that magic is only acceptable in a story when it gets the characters into trouble but not when it gets them out. Joe Hill has made Locke & Key an absolute exemplar of this rule, and every arc of the series has escalated the previous volume’s magical deviousness. Omega’s machinations have moved into high gear now, and I’m biting my nails to see how the Locke family will get out of Hill’s terrifying (and final) magic trick.

Punk Rock Jesus TP: Hey, did you miss this one in the floppies? Well now’s the perfect time to read Sean Murphy’s wildly idiosyncratic, black & white labor-of-love. Science-ficton, faith, media-satire, and an ample dose of punk rock combine in what’s sure to be one of 2013’s best miniseries.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS4: DOCTOR WHO Trans-Temporal Sonic Screwdrivers, the new printing of the IRON MAN EXTREMIS trade paperback, and the second volume of the COMPLETE CRUMB COMICS!

EVERETT

Todd’s Picks!

Batman Incorporated #8 (2nd Printing): Did you miss this issue the first time? Now is your chance to read some Bat-History.

Batman Incorporated #9: What’s next for the Wayne family after one of their own is lost?

Garth Ennis’ RED TEAM #2: If you miss THE BOYS, this book will fill that hole in your black little heart.

Morning Glories #25: Celebrate this milestone with an oversized issue that is certain not to disappoint the long-term reader!

Time Warp #1: Don’t miss this Vertigo anthology book, because Damon Lindelof wrote one of the stories!

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS2: Get your hands on the new 12-inch BOBA FETT action figure before the Sarlac eats it, continue your collection of WALKING DEAD TV action figures, and be sure to be one of the cool kids in your new AQUAMAN t-shirt!

REDMOND

Joe’s Picks!

Justice League Dark #18: Constantine has his own book but for my money I like a team book. This has been heating up and it looks like Xanadu might actually die, so hang on to your hat!

Planetoid #5: I’m a sucker for survival books, and survival against robots is the best. This book has been great, the art is bleak, and Silas is an awesome protagonist.

Thunderbolts #7: This books has arguably the best team in the Marvel Universe. Hulk, Venom, Deadpool, Elektra, and Punisher. All written by Daniel Way who has a firm grip on these characters. It’s funny and violent and that should be all you need.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS3: Grab the new PORTAL gun keychain (just don’t send your keys too far), check out the new Lee Bermejo SUPERMAN statue, and get the new SPIDER-MAN necklace for the Gwen Stacey in your life!

U-DISTRICT

Sean’s Picks!

Black Paths HC GN: David B’s most recent complete translated graphic novel. Fans of Jason and Babel will appreciate this post WWI surrealist love story.

East of West #1: Hickman’s latest venture for Image. Expect a stunning sci-fi western for anyone who enjoys Saga, Nowhere Men, and Prophet.

Planetoid #5: Stranded on a hostile planet, hunted by deranged robots at the command of vile aliens and with no hope of rescue. This is Planetoid in a nutshell.

Carl’s Picks!

East of West #1: Yet another obscenely good-looking, intriguing sci-fi premise from Image. I guess I better check this out before everyone starts talking about it…

Juxtapose #147: Ralph Steadman’s never been my cup of tea, but even ‘meh’ guys like me got to admire his furious ink drizzles. I’ll be excited to learn a little more about his work in this month’s Juxtapose, and maybe there’ll be a cool photo of David Choe at a party!

Legend of Luther Strode #4: This book is that perfect blend of post-pop writing, weird retro Grecco-Roman art, and incredibly tasteless hyper-violence. Kind of the thinking-man’s Kick-Ass. You owe it to yourself to look – especially if you liked that Tank Girl: Carioca book.

Mister X Hard Candy One-Shot: Mister X is one of those who’s-who of 1980’s and 1990’s underground comics: Everyone from the Hernandez Brothers to Bill Sienkiewicz has taken a swing at Dean Motter’s iconic cipher. Motter is back in this one-shot with his squeaky-clean brush work, so I’ll be sure to check it out.

ALSO ARRIVING AT CS4: Grab up all the GARBAGE PAIL KIDS Series 2 trading cards, enjoy the new JOHNNY BOO hardcover, or read some classic HUMAN TORCH in the new Marvel Masterworks edition!
