Onca again, FREE COMIC BOOK DAY is upon us! As always, all three locations of the Comic Stop will be participating in this national event.
Each store will be giving out all sorts of free comics, as well as holding their own store sales. More details to follow shortly...

Local Brews!As this is our big Summer BBQ, we'll be providing many fine beers from local breweries. There'll be no weak domestic beers at our party! Here's a list of some of the breweries that we will be spotlighting:

Since it's been ages that we've held a full-on Poker Tournament, we are going to give it a try again... and hold our Summer BBQ at the same time!
The Poker Tournament is pretty simple: 2 rounds with a Winner and Runner-Up. The 1st round will consist of tables of 4-5 players, and the winners of these tables will move on to the second round. The winner of the tournament will be walking away with this awesome prize -- the variant edition of the Frank Miller & Bill Sienkiewicz ELETKRA OMNIBUS. The runner-up of the tourney will get the consolation prize of FANTASTIC FOUR: WORLD'S FINEST HC by Mark Millar & Bryan Hitch, the first collection of their awesome run on the book.
Besides the game, we will also be firing up the old BBQ for dogs and burgers, and washing those down with a variety of good beer!
There is a buy-in of $5.00 for the Poker Night, in order to help pay for the beer and food. The $5.00 gets you all of the food and drink you want for the evening, as well as all of the chips you'll need for the Pocker Tournament (if you decide to play; it is not necessary to play if you want to come to the event for the evening).

MICHAEL OEMING & TAKI SOMA

The Comic Stop is excited to have comic book artist extraordinaire Michael Avon Oeming (Powers, Bulletproof Monk, Hammer of The Gods) for a store signing to help promote his brand new series debuting with Dark Horse Comics, Rapture. Signing along with Oeming is co-creator and artist for the book, Taki Soma.
Here's what Dark horse has to say about Rapture:
After warring for a century, Earth's greatest champions and villains suddenly disappear, leaving the planet devastated. Like a rapture, the Powers are gone and humanity is left behind to pick up the pieces. Amongst this wreckage, two lovers, Evelyn and Gil, find themselves separated by a continent and will do anything to find each other again. This store signing will take place from 12pm to 3pm at the Redmond location, on Saturday, May 30th.

EMERALD CITY COMICON
Seattle's Biggest Comic Book Convention!
The Comic Stop is proud to host the Emerald City ComiCon, the largest comic book convention in the Pacific Northwest, back for it's seventh year!
Some of the many creators attending the show this year are Bruce Timm, Dave Johnson, Brian Michael Bendis, Frank Cho, Amanda Conner, Matt Fraction, Adi Granov, Stuart Immonen, Bob Layton, Adam Hughes, Steve Niles, Humberto Ramos, Mark Waid, Barry Kitson, Jim Valentino, Erik Larsen, and many more!
In addition to comic creators, we are proud to have NOEL NEILL (the original Lois Lane), DOUG SNEYD (cartoonist for Playboy Magazine) and STEPHEN SILVER (character designer for Clerks: The Animated Series & Kim Possible). Oh, and fan-favorite WIL WHEATON is coming back!
Publishers included are Boom Studios, Brand Studio Press, Fantagraphics Books, Rorschach Entertainment, SLG Publishing, Studio Foglio, Top Shelf Productions, and more!
As the staff of The Comic Stop runs the event, all Comic Stop locations will be closed for this weekend.

STORE SIGNING W/ MIKE AVON OEMING

The Comic Stop is excited to have comic book artist extraordinaire Mike Avon Oeming (Powers, Bulletproof Monk, Hammer of The Gods, etc) for a store signing that will take place from 1pm to 4pm at the Lynnwood location, on Saturday, January 31st. besides showing off his awesome new book, Mice Templar, Mike is also celebrating his birthday with us, so make sure to say "Happy Birthday!"
Mike Oeming is best known for his artwork on Powers with co-creator Brian Michael Bendis, but he is also an accomplished writer whose work includes Omega Flight, Stormbreaker: The Sage of Beta Ray Bill, Ares, Thor: Blood Oath, and many more.
Also, the co-creator of Mice Templar, Bryan Glass, will be making an appearance at the Mike Oeming store signing, which gives everyone the perfect chance to get their new Mice Templar HC signed by both creators!

KIRBY KRACKLE CD RELEASE EVENT
4PM to 5PM
Immediately after the signing with Mike Oeming, Kirby Krackle shall hit the stage, debuting their self-titled debut CD!
Kirby Krackle is the brainchild of Comic Guru Jim Demonakos and Uber Musician Kyle Stevens, who have put together a unique sound of music with lyrics based off of the best that pop culture has to offer. Their style of music can be called Geek Rock, Nerd Core, Comic Rock, whatever you want to call it. To miss this show is to turn in your license to be a Geek.
Kirby Krackle will play from 4pm to 5pm. Afterwards, there will be an after-party with food and drinks. This will be good times, people. Be there.
